It is sometimes possible to create attractive images where the subject is not immediately obvious. This might be a detail or a macro shot of a scene or object, concentrating on just shapes and patterns. On other occasions, manipulating the image, either in the camera (eg with multiple exposures, deliberate movement of the camera or zooming during the exposure) or in post-processing, can produce an original and enjoyable result.

This is a favourite recent image of the Millennium footbridge and St Paul's Cathedral in London. It is a hand-held multiple exposure combined in camera. Post capture editing used one of the component images to produce a sharp view of the dome of St Pauls and I made some colour adjustments. I also removed some distracting temporary building site cranes.
